QR code guest passes that can't be shared

Every SmartLotIQ guest pass is a unique, plate-bound, scan-tracked credential. Residents create them in seconds; security verifies them in one tap; the system catches sharing automatically.

The five pass types

  • Standard guest pass — friend or family visiting for a few days. Configurable expiry. Tied to one license plate.
  • One-time pass — a delivery driver, an Uber, a single appointment. Burns on first scan. Cannot be reused.
  • Vendor pass — records the business name on the pass face. Default 8-hour expiry.
  • Employee pass — for long-running contractor staff. 30-90 day expiry, optional employee ID.
  • Long-term pass — for an adult child visiting for two weeks, a caregiver, or a renter's pre-move-in stay. Audit-logged.

Anti-sharing detection

Every scan of a pass records the source IP address, user-agent, and timestamp. SmartLotIQ then watches three signals: distinct-IP threshold (alert if a single QR is scanned from more than 3 distinct IPs in 24 hours), plate mismatch (security marks the actual plate observed), and use-count exhaustion (one-time passes burn on first valid scan).

How a pass is created and delivered

A resident opens their branded portal link, taps "New pass," chooses the type, enters the guest's name and license plate. SmartLotIQ generates a unique 24-character QR code, a six-digit fallback code, and a printable PDF. The pass is delivered by SMS, email, or both. Apple Wallet and Google Wallet add-to-wallet links are included automatically.
